JC Bermudez Doral High School

Overview

JC Bermudez Doral High School was the focus of this project, where AMBRO provided comprehensive site civil engineering services beginning with the development of preliminary site drawings. These included the overall site layout, utility design encompassing water and sanitary sewer systems, grading, and drainage plans, as well as stormwater treatment and conveyance strategies, all prepared in accordance with Miami-Dade County and State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).

Extensive site due diligence was conducted to assess utility capacities and availability, which included coordination with various permitting authorities such as the City of Doral, Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department, Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER), Department of Health, and the South Florida Water Management District.

Our preliminary design also included site geometry for driveways and parking areas, pavement design sections, marking and signage plans, and water main connections for domestic use, fire protection, landscape irrigation, and sewer service.

Following the preliminary phase, we prepared detailed construction documents covering site geometry and paving, existing drainage system analysis, grading and drainage plans, and utility layouts. This phase also included plans for the relocation of an existing 12” water main and the design of new services for water, fire, irrigation, and sanitary sewer systems.

Additional deliverables included final pavement marking and signage plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and coordination with landscape, mechanical, electrical, irrigation, and lighting disciplines to ensure fully integrated site development. Our team actively participated in client meetings to maintain alignment with project goals.

We managed the permitting process by preparing and submitting site plans and engineering applications, coordinating with relevant agencies, and responding to agency comments and requests for revisions. Agencies involved included the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Health, and the Fire Department.

During the construction phase, our support continued through attendance at pre-construction meetings, review of shop drawings, and guidance to the contractor before groundbreaking. We provided responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), reviewed contractor pay applications, and verified testing results for critical utility systems, ensuring construction met design intent and regulatory standards.

AMBRO was responsible for the design and permitting of a comprehensive athletic facility renovation. The project included a new artificial turf football/soccer combination field, a new artificial turf baseball field, a new softball field, and basketball/volleyball combination courts. These upgrades were designed to improve recreational infrastructure and provide high-quality, multi-use athletic spaces that support both community and competitive use. AMBRO managed all aspects of design and permitting to ensure regulatory compliance and project readiness for construction.
