South Corridor Rapid Transit Project

Overview

The South Corridor Rapid Transit Project marks the launch of the first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Miami-Dade County, connecting several rapidly growing municipalities, including the Villages of Pinecrest and Palmetto Bay, the Town of Cutler Bay, and the Cities of Homestead and Florida City. By improving connectivity across these communities, the project sets a new benchmark for efficient, high-capacity public transportation and addresses the region’s evolving mobility needs.

Spanning 20 miles, the BRT corridor extends from the Dadeland South Metrorail Station to the SW 344th Street Park-and-Ride/Transit Terminal in Florida City. The project scope includes the construction of 14 new BRT stations and rehabilitating and enhancing 32 existing local bus stops. This transformative infrastructure investment supports a new efficiency standard for public transportation while providing a viable solution for future transportation demands.

As part of this project, AMBRO provided engineering design and construction inspection services, design plans review, specifications, and special provisions, attended project meetings, and coordinated with regulatory agencies, as needed.
