South Dade Bus Maintenance Facility

Overview

The South Dade Bus Maintenance Facility project involves the construction of an innovative Transit Operations Center (TOC) on a 20-acre site in South Dade. The facility will support the operation, maintenance, and charging of a new fleet of 100 electric buses. In addition to housing the buses, the TOC will feature dedicated spaces for maintenance, parts storage, driver training, and bus dispatch operations, ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of the transit fleet.

AMBRO provided engineering design and permitting services for the preparation of construction plans to support the widening of SW 129th Avenue, extending from SW 286th Street to SW 284th Terrace. The project also included roadway lighting design along SW 127th Avenue from Biscayne Drive to the project limits and roadway and drainage improvements along Biscayne Drive.

AMBRO was responsible for roadway and drainage analysis and design, quality assurance and quality control, and multiple field reviews to ensure compliance with project standards. AMBRO managed signing and pavement marking plans, coordinated with utility providers, conducted lighting analysis and prepared lighting plans, oversaw permitting processes, and supported bid and award services.

During construction, AMBRO responded to RFIs and made necessary adjustments to address unforeseen utility conflicts. The firm also provided general observation services, reviewed contractor pay applications, and verified system testing to ensure successful project delivery.
