Water Main at the Intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and NW 5th Street
Overview
The 42” Water Main at the Intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and NW 5th Street to PortMiami project involved comprehensive civil infrastructure engineering services to support the operational and infrastructure needs of PortMiami.
The proposed 42-inch transmission main alignment crosses the waterway between Dodge Island and the mainland, south of the Bascule Bridge, and was designed to run beneath the Biscayne Bay using two 36-inch Horizontal Directional Drills (HDD) for construction.
Primary services performed by AMBRO included route analysis and coordination, civil infrastructure engineering for upgrades to Pump Station 9141, the replacement of an existing 8-inch force main, and design support for a proposed dry force main.
AMBRO provided permitting support, utility coordination, and Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) services throughout the duration of the project.
AMBRO also provided detailed permitting support, with close attention to the requirements of all applicable jurisdictions and agencies, including the Florida Department of Transportation, District 6, and identified potential utility conflicts.
